So what do you think, which is the best? I only have some experience with AMD when I juiced 2.1 GHz out of my old sempron 3000

My friend tried overclocking the IBM cpu in his mac a while back. It didn't go too well.

Hehe, I pretty much burnt down my AMD too  What happened to your friends IBM?
Every once in a while I hear again that someone has screwed up his comp with overclocking. I know that feeling if you're not quite sure what you're doing but hey - it's exciting! I've never touched a BIOS again with overclocking thoughts in my mind. Don't need a powerful PC anyways.

I don't want to risk damaging my computer.
I have never done overclocking and would never do nor recommend anyone to do so. PC's are still on the expensive side.

Every gamer and even a geek wants to extract each and every drop of juice from their systems. All the systems are optimized for running at a specific speed but that speed can be increased through a way called overclocking. Wikipedia defines overclocking as follows:

Overclocking is the process of running a computer component at a higher clock rate (more clock cycles per second) than it was designed for or was specified by the manufacturer, usually practiced by personal computer enthusiasts seeking an increase in the performance of their computers.

More details about what is overclocking can be have from here.

ClockGen is a small software which combines overclocking of different components of the system and hence makes it very easy to overclock from one place. Another good thing about ClockGen is that it is portable meaning it doesn’t need to be installed. Just unzip it in a folder and run it from there.

A ClockGen software allow to dynamically overclock several devices of your system : CPU, memory, AGP and PCI bus

The 72-7712 Digital Thermometer from Tenma Test Equipment is a dual thermocouple meter with internal logging capability, USB output for saving logged data, and software up-link. This unit can become an integral part of a PC testing arsenal by allowing for isolation of case hot spots, heat sink testing, and LN2/Dry Ice work. The limitations start to change and the performance bar can be raised when you know where it is hot and where it is not.
After the paparazzi caught a glimpse of the GTX 460 768 earlier this morning, Expreview has now posted a Gigabyte Press Kit detailing the performance of NVIDIA’s upcoming mid-range Fermi card. Due to be released on July 12, this card will feature 768 MB of GDDR5 memory running at 3600 MHz, plus 192-bit memory interface. The GPU will be clocked at 675 MHz.
